Want to make a difference... ACT NOW!
January 20th, 2009
Are you one of those individuals who want to make a difference in the laws that affect individuals with disabilities, but do not think your voice alone will count? Well it is time to join ACT NOW, a soon to be statewide legislative network for people with disabilities.
ACT NOW was developed by Jason Beloungy (Independent Living Resources staff member in Lacrosse) in an effort to unite people with disabilities across the state into one voice working together for change. Independent Living Centers throughout Wisconsin, such as Midstate Independent Living Center (Steven’s Point) and Options are looking at implementing ACT NOW also.
Individuals who join ACT NOW will receive legislative alerts and updates on Federal and State issues impacting people with disabilities. When you receive an ACT NOW alert or update, you can pursue the issue by contacting your area legislator. These same alerts will be going to many others across the state who are also members of ACT NOW. They say there is power in numbers. By joining together with other members of ACT NOW we will have the numbers, and therefore, the power. So… act now and join ACT NOW!
